Bodie, California. September 1998
We arrived in Bodie at approximately 5:00pm. This did not give us much time to tour the town, but, we did get some interesting pictures nevertheless.
This Hotel was
most interesting. We were impressed by the fact that, as is the
case with most buildings, this had retained all its original furnishings,
left untouched since the day the town was abandoned.
Still within
its rooms were a pool hall, with cue sticks and billiard balls still
on the table. And in the office, the switchboard can still be seen.
It was through
this doorway that I saw my first sign of Spirit Phenomena. Although it appears
as only a reddish speck in the center of the doorway in this photo, the
next photos will reveal more clearly,.. a floating stick of some sort in
the hallway. I caught it just as it passed by a darkened doorway on
the other side of the hallway.
Because these pictures were taken with digital technology, it is nearly impossible to enlarge this photo and still keep things in focus. However, if you notice the reddish stick floating in the center of the doorway, ....... it is enlarged to show it better in the frame below.......
Please note, there was no light source to the room in the rear so this item could not be something within that room receiving a light reflection. The item was in the hallway, and was illuminated from the light coming from the end of the hallway. Upon further investigation, we found that the stick was not hanging from any web or string substance. It passed beyond our view in the hallway, and was not seen again.
Although only 5% of Bodie remains, it still contains over 100 standing
buildings in near perfect condition from when it was a bustling gold town.
Here we can see a small amount of Spirit Energy in the form of a fog around the organ. Notice the strongest area just left of the chair in front of the organ.
Bodie is one of our nations best preserved True Ghost Towns. It is open to visitors during the Spring and Summer months. It is easiest to reach by four wheel vehicle, but any vehicle can get there with relative ease.
Bodie is located about 25 minutes northeast of Mono Lake. Be prepared
to take an eight mile ride on a rather rough dirt road to get there. And
be aware that
sheep roam freely on the road.
Bodie area is closed to visitors at 6:00pm PST sharp. Don't plan on hanging around after that. Park officials make sure everyone is gone after hours. Admission is US$2.00 per person when last checked. For an additional US$2.00, you can obtain a map of Bodie which tells the history of each building.
